Perth, Western Australia's Metronet project is the city's largest public transportation project in the city's history - and its going to have a huge impact on mass transit in the city.

The Metronet project will see Perth get two new train lines (inlcuding the airport train line & the recently opened Thornlie-Cockburn link) multiple rail extensions, and a ton of other public transport related upgrades including high capacity signalling and the new C series rail cars.

In this video I'm going to look at whats involved in Metronet, and what this will all mean for Perth - a city that has historically had quite a car centric approach to its urban planning. Will Metronet be able to finally make it less car dependent?

I'll also be looking at how this project compares with other major transport projects across Australia, like the Metro tunnel in Melbourne, or the Sydney Metro.

And finally I'll be looking at what lessons other car dependent cities can take from Perth - as Transperth could be a good model for these cities to follow.
