Cave Run Bass Fishing Tournament, Fall Transition...all about the shad!

Описание к видео Cave Run Bass Fishing Tournament, Fall Transition...all about the shad!

My buddy, Scott Doan, asked me to fish the Trooper Island Cave Run Lake Charity Bass Tournament, the first weekend in October. While we pre-fished the weekend before (see video!), we knew it was going to be challenging since a cold front moved through the Tuesday before the tournament, and the temperatures dropped pretty dramatically. We weren't sure how much that would push the bass into the fall transition, or how much the bass behavior would change from our pre-fishing. Well, we really struggled this day. We had learned in pre-fishing that the bass were relating to the huge schools of shad, but we had a hard time finding quality bass, and on tournament day it was the same... we must have caught over 30 short bass and only managed two small keeper bass by the end of the tournament. Both bass came on a drop shot on the edges of the huge schools of shad near shallow grass (but not right on the edges of the grass). Cave Run Lake is so beautiful, I always feel so lucky to be there, and even though we bombed in the tournament, it was a great day on the lake.
