Trump's first impeachment - 2020

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer proposed an amendment to the resolution governing President Donald Trump’s Senate impeachment trial on Jan. 21. The amendment would require the Senate to subpoena White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney and seek White House documents relating to Trump’s alleged efforts to get Ukraine to investigate the Bidens in exchange for U.S. military aid. The White House has denied any wrongdoing on the part of the president. Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December on two articles — abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The trial will determine whether Trump is convicted of those charges and remove him from office or acquitted.
