The final Sunday of 2024 lived up to the hype, just like the year as a whole. With only two days left before the year wrapped up, both seasoned pros and rising stars turned out in force for one last chance at big wins and even bigger bankroll boosts.
If there’s one name that keeps coming up in poker circles lately, it’s Nishaanth Shanmughasundaram. The draw of competition brought him back to the online felts, and over the weekend, he dove into the Saturday Santa's Secret KO 150 on Natural8 India, where he faced an immense field of 3,626 players. When the dust settled, Nishaanth locked in a fourth-place finish, adding ₹15.71 Lakhs to his bankroll.
Another familiar face, Nishant Kumar made an impact of his own on Natural8 India. On Sunday, he battled through 1,022 opponents in the Winter KICK-OFF 125 and walked away with ₹15.53 Lakhs. A little while later, he snagged yet another score in PokerBaazi’s BSS Superstack, pushing his single-day total to ₹15.63 Lakhs.
Amit Kaushik wrapped up a highly profitable day by amassing ₹10.97 Lakhs through eight deep runs and three final table finishes. The highlights included a runner-up finish in Adda52's Roller Coaster for ₹3.34 Lakhs, a tenth-place finish in Natural8 India’s GG Masters 150 for ₹3.22 Lakhs, a fourth-place finish in PokerBaazi’s BSS SuperStack for ₹3.08 Lakhs, and a fifth-place finish in Pocket52’s Pocket Kings for ₹85,320.
Over at PokerBaazi, Hardik Nair picked up his 19th title of the year in the BSS Superstack and collected a top prize of ₹8.83 Lakhs. Meanwhile, Anant Purohit arrived on the scene as a dominant force and took a runner-up payout of ₹5.41 Lakhs—his third time finishing second in the BSS Superstack.
Among the other standout performers on Natural8 India was Satyam Verma who finished ninth in the Bounty Hunters Sunday MAIN EVENT 54, pocketing ₹8.17 Lakhs while Advait Rajguru notched up ₹4.36 Lakhs across two impressive runs: 88th in the Bounty Hunters HR MAIN EVENT 525 (₹3.57 Lakhs) and 23rd in the Sunday Winter SAVER 250 (₹78,279).
Suraj Bhan had quite the Sunday winning streak on Adda52 by capturing two titles in a single day—the Sunday Bounty for ₹23,050 and the Topple Tower for ₹3.43 Lakhs. He also secured a podium finish in the Roller Coaster, ending the day with total winnings exceeding ₹6.13 Lakhs. Anmol Narang finished second in the Topple Tower for ₹2 Lakh, marking his fourth-best score on Adda52 and sixth-best this year. With four more deep runs, Narang pushed his Sunday haul to nearly ₹3.11 Lakhs.
In Junglee Poker’s Countdown Highroller, ‘fisherman199’ dominated the eight-hour Sunday face-off, pocketing ₹5.16 Lakhs. They added an 11th-place finish in the Countdown Party as well, bringing their total Sunday earnings to ₹5.33 Lakhs. Goan poker ace Myron Pereira continued his remarkable run of form, coming in second place for ₹2.50 Lakhs and managing deep runs in eight other tournaments—capping off the day with ₹3.78 Lakhs overall.
Veteran poker pro Ram Kakkar kept his winning momentum rolling with a commanding run in Adda52’s Roller Coaster, earning himself ₹4.52 Lakhs. He added multiple deep runs in other tournaments on the site, pushing his overall winnings to nearly ₹4.71 Lakhs for the day.
Sahil Mahboobani closed out the final Sunday of the year in style by conquering Pocket52’s Pocket Kings for ₹3.40 Lakhs, marking his first title on the site. Adding two more deep runs, he ended Sunday with ₹3.91 Lakhs overall. Gopal Bajaj narrowly missed out on his second title win on Pocket52, finishing runner-up for a site-best ₹2.38 Lakhs. With three more deep runs to his name, he racked up total Sunday winnings of ₹3.07 Lakhs.
PokerBaazi’s Sunday lineup featured the BSS Super Value, where Mukesh Surana, claimed a landmark win. He walked away with ₹3.84 Lakhs—putting an end to a nearly five-week streak of near misses. Surana also tacked on another deep run in the BSS Afternoon BOOST, bringing his total Sunday earnings to ₹3.86 Lakhs. Surbhit Grover continued his impressive run of results by finishing in second place for ₹2.50 Lakhs. With a win in Spartan Poker’s Holdem for ₹11,100, Grover’s Sunday haul soared to at least ₹2.60 Lakhs.
Rishab Malik ended a four-month wait for a title by taking down Junglee Poker's Countdown Knockout for ₹3.30 Lakhs, which was his fourth title on the platform. Following another deep run in PokerBaazi’s (6-Max) BSS SPRINT, Malik's Sunday total reached ₹3.70 Lakhs, marking a celebratory entry into the ₹10 Crore lifetime earnings club. Mandar Madaye put up a spirited performance, finishing runner-up for ₹2.22 Lakhs in the Countdown Knockout. With additional deep runs during the day, he ended up collecting nearly ₹2.32 Lakhs, rounding out a strong showing of his own.
