Temperatures were a bit cooler today thanks to increased clouds and scattered storms, and they will be a little less cooler tomorrow. Spotty showers will be possible tonight and tomorrow morning, and we’ll start your Monday temperatures in the mid-70’s in most spots and around 80 degrees at the immediate coastline. Shower and storm chances will increase into Monday afternoon, and these will push inland into the evening hours. Heavier downpours could lead to isolated flash flooding especially in coastal Mississippi and Alabama counties. A high risk for rip currents will continue through Thursday, and a high surf advisory is in place through Thursday for 5 to 7 feet breaking waves. More scattered storms are possible Tuesday, but rain chances become more isolated for Wednesday and through the end of the work week. Highs will push back into the low-90’s to end the work week with lows staying in the 70’s. In the tropics, one disturbance is currently over the southern Gulf in the Bay of Campeche and is forecast to move west-northwest into the western Gulf of Mexico in the coming days. It is expected to bring heavy rainfall causing flooding concerns for parts of Mexico. This disturbance has a HIGH CHANCE for tropical development. Another disturbance is moving west-northwest to the northeast of the Bahamas, and it could have some slow development as it moves west-northwest towards Florida, Georgia, and the Bahamas. Right now there is a LOW CHANCE of development over the next 2 to 7 days.
