BILASPUR district we know presently had had a different face before an era . The old name of BILASPUR was KEHLUR . The reason behind getting this name was raja Beer Chand found idol of goddess Durga beneath a stone slab with the help of a gujjar lady named Kehlu and her goat.
Raja Beer Chand built a fort there named that Kot Kehlur .

1st raja of kehlur was raja Beer Chand who came from Bundelkhand and belongs to Chandel family .


Guru Gobind Singh Ji had had a great influence in the history of BILASPUR . The two main battle fought by him are Battle of Bhangani Sahib and Battle of Nadaun , that we study in respect of BILASPUR.
