How Would a Recession Affect Digital Marketing Jobs?

Having helped people get digital marketing jobs since 2016, I've done a ton of analysis on the job market over the years. I cite this data along with financial statistics from the last big recession we had in 2008-2009 --- a time during which digital marketing was actually still growing.

One thing you'll learn if you enter the job market is that so many jobs truly are non-essential. Many people have jobs that do not directly impact the bottom line of a company. And when hard times hit, those jobs are the first to go. But because digital marketers are directly responsible for the revenue of a business, they are necessary to a company's profitability and survival especially during difficult periods.
