On May 11, 2024, this is the last picture Daniel Paterson would ever post on his Instagram. Two short months earlier, I hiked this same trail to Everest Base Camp, crossed the same bridges, and saw the same breathtaking views he did. There’s something eerie about knowing that the trail to Everest Base Camp has been the beginning of the end for so many climbers.
