Transcript/notes
Let’s say that you want to fill in dates in excel, without typing them all in, such as in this example worksheet, and we will go over 3 different scenarios.
First to fill in day after day. In cell A2 I have the date 8/22/2021. To fill in the column, left click on the cell, A2, and move the cursor down to the bottom right corner, and you will see the cursor turn black. From here, left click and hold and drag down to where you want it, here, cell A20, then release the click and hold, and the dates have been filled in.
Now lets say that you want a single date, such as in column C. Type in the date in 2 cells, here C2 and C3. Next left click and drag over both cells, so they are both highlighted and release the click and hold. Now, again, move the cursor down to the bottom right corner, and you will see it turn black.
From here, left click and hold and drag down to where you want it, here, cell C20, then release the click and hold, and the single dates have been filled in.
Now let’s say that you want dates a week apart. I have entered 2 dates a week apart in cells E2 and E3. Again, left click and drag over both cells, so they are both highlighted and release the click and hold.
Now, again, move the cursor down to the bottom right corner, and you will see it turn black. From here, left click and hold and drag down to where you want it, here, cell E20, then release the click and hold, and the weekly dates have been filled in.
