White JVC PC-55 Restored Boombox

JVC PC-55, Japan white Victor branded rare version. Needed a lot of work to be presentable, but I feel I brought this 40 year boombox back to glory. It has got to be the best boombox ever offered in the unusual white colour, right?

Plastics inside are time stamped May '83. I know I said this before but JVC stands for Japan Victor Company - and in Japan the product was offered under just "Victor" along with the His Master's Voice dog logo in front of Victor branding.

This one came to me in need of a lot of attention. Needed to be completely stripped of enclosure and scrubbed clean. Strategic retrobrighting to amplifier top cover and handle to bring it to match. I did not retrobright the fronts of amp or deck or speakers, (all are factory painted pearl white) as there could be damage potentially to brittle plastic or print or the grey amp button inserts Plus, after a good wash they came sufficiently clean to pass visual inspection in my opinion. The shade of the unit is quite consistent after cleaning. I left the speaker drivers original "aged" as well for now, without painting them. I just feel there is nothing wrong with a boombox showing a bit of natural aging.

All functions gone over, interior cleaned, switches cleaned, battery compartment restored, all battery acid damage contained to battery box. Bottom deck plate refinished in black. Original 12v fuse bulb with blue light filter for display lighting. Note, this white PC-55 deck has English text buttons, not Japanese. :-)

You guys like how I timed the power-on with the timing of the Wake Me Up chorus playing on FM radio (...on 3rd take)?

The result is a great and clean looking white PC-55. What do you think?
