The large scale conversion of land and especially hill slopes will destroy Goa irreparably. Around 11lakh square meters of hill slope which are no development zones are already converted or in the process of conversion to settlement zones. A Wayanad like disaster is ominously hanging over Goa. Environmentalist and Activists have raised a red flag over the Goa Town and Country Planning (Amendment and Validation) Bill 2024 introduced in the Goa Assembly on Friday where permission given by the TCP cannot be challenged in the Court of Law even as it is unconstitutional. They feel that this amendment will not stand the scrutiny of law even as the intent seems to be destruction of Goa, they said.
