I made this vintage shirtwaist dress pattern in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. If I had a time-machine, this is the style of dress I would've worn to witness the 1963 March On Washington where MLK gave his famous “I Have A Dream” speech.

When I think of the civil rights movement, I think of the Summer heat and the color yellow. I couldn’t have found a more perfect late-1950s sundress to make for this occasion.

This is my 3rd sewing project and the first time I ever attempted adjusting a pattern. I felt like it was missing something in the end there, so I added my own little signature style element.
