Route 406: London & Country: 610 (G610BPH) Volvo B10M Citybus/ East Lancs.

And now for the second video from the 406 event, with the entry I was most keen to get, and am so glad that I did. Time for a throwback to the 1990s, with a rumbustious rumbling Volvo Citybus.

New in 1989, 610 (G610BPH) was new as the first of a batch of 13 East Lancs. bodied Volvo B10M Citybuses delivered new to London & Country, based at Addlestone (WY) garage for use primarily on routes 85 & 131, but mainly the former. With the 85 receiving new Northern Counties Palatine 2 bodied DAF DB250s in 1997. 610 was moved to Guildford (GF) under Arriva Guildford & West Surrey, but was only painted in Arriva's livery until 2001. 2002 saw the bus loaned to Arriva Colchester, returning to Guildford in 2003. The bus was then bought by a slew of independents before entering into preservation, and was a frequent sight at bus events as a static only entry.

This bus was in participation at the London Bus Museum's 406 running day, running the old Country area route from Kingston, Cromwell Road to Redhill Bus Station via Surbiton, Tolworth, Stoneleigh, Ewell, Epsom, Epsom Racecourse, Tadworth, Lower Kingswood & Reigate. Though 610 only ran as far north as Tolworth. Today's video comprising the section from Tolworth to Tadworth, omitting the slow town section at Ewell & Epsom.

610 is powered by an underfloor Volvo THD101 engine coupled to a ZF Ecomat 4HP500 4-speed automatic gearbox. As expected from a bustling B10M, it was loud and powerful, so I am glad to have finally caught this vehicle. Hope everyone enjoys this one!
