The Fine Wine Experience Visits Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat, 2019

China. Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is one of the top producers in Burgundy and traces its origin back to the early ‘60s. Founded by Alain Hudelot, he ran the estate for 45 years. In 1978, he married Odile Noëllat (granddaughter of Charles Noëllat), this union brought new vineyards under the domaine.

In 2008, Alain Hudelot handed over the reins of the winemaking and management of Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat to his grandson, Charles van Canneyt. By this time, Charles had completed his wine studies at Dijon University. When he took over, he chose to respect his grandfather’s vision which was always to let the terroir express itself in the wines. Charles instituted a program of evolution at the domaine rather than revolution. Specifically, he implemented the following changes: ploughing the soils, producing lower yields, improving the harvesting process and including a small percentage of whole bunch for the maceration.
