Grand Bazaar (Kapalıçarşı) + MasterChef Contestant's Restaurant - ISTANBUL, Turkey

Описание к видео Grand Bazaar (Kapalıçarşı) + MasterChef Contestant's Restaurant - ISTANBUL, Turkey

For first time visitors to Istanbul, Turkiye like us, The Grand Bazaar is one of those must-visit places. It began its life in 1461 and expanded over the centuries. It's one of the world's oldest and largest covered markets and can be quite the experience for the uninitiated as bargaining skills are required if you're intending to shop especially for tourists.

We met a friendly carpet shop owner there (Behzat) who taught us about their rugs and store's long history with handmade carpets. They even ship worldwide if you find yourself falling in love with a special piece. You can find them on:   / herekerugs

Süleymaniye Mosque is an exceptional architectural masterpiece that dates back to 1550 when its construction first began. It's beautiful, grand and well worth a visit in Istanbul. It's also far less busy than the Hagia Sophia.

Less than a 10 minute walk away, we unknowingly stumbled into a Turkey MasterChef contestant's restaurant. It was the first time trying çiğ köfte for us and it was amazing. No wonder though since it was made by someone worthy of getting onto Turkey MasterChef!

Another 2 minutes stroll down the road and we tried another local favourite, a boza drink at an establishment that has been around since 1876.

Our final stop was to check out another impressive historic engineering feat completed in the late 4th century, the Valens Aqueduct. Though only a small section of it remains, it's a sight to behold in such a modern setting.
