Joselle Cook, MBBS, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, comments on the value of identifying early signs and symptoms of systemic light chain (AL) amyloidosis, a condition associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Dr Cook highlights the need for clinicians to be aware of the vague but distinct patterns of fatigue, weight loss, and cardiac symptoms, which can trigger suspicion of systemic amyloidosis. She proposes the development of better infographics and educational material, as well as the integration of AI-powered symptom clustering algorithms to aid in early recognition and diagnosis. This interview took place at the 66th ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition, held in San Diego, CA.
