Exploring Kurdistans Ancient Capital

Welcome to Erbil! Kurdistans ancient capital city.
Plenty of people told us Erbil ain't the nicest place, they said people won't have the time of day for us or will try to rip us off but I've gotta say we were pleasantly surprised.

We kicked the day off with a good old hearty breakfast, I've no idea what we ate but it was bloody good.

After eating we hit up Erbil bazaar, got a fresh lemonade and chilled out in a tea shop with a cracking view of the ancient citadel.

A kind bloke from the tea shop paid for us and took us round the corner to buy some old Iraqi money, people here really do look after you.

We did a little more shopping in the old bazaar and I even bought some super cheap aftershave from a lad on the streets.

On the walk home we stopped for some food and a cup of tea, once again the shop owner would not let us pay!

Evening came and we headed back out onto the streets of Erbil to eat some traditional food, on the way we met a bloke selling a strange tamarind juice from his back which was actually pretty delicious. To finish the day we found a nice local restaurant and enjoyed a beautiful dolma feast, one of my all time favourite foods.

We quite like Erbil or Hawler as the locals say, definitely ain't a bad place like people said.
