Описание к видео Youngest Medal of Honor Ever — He Jumped on 2 Grenades at 17 and Survived Both

Iwo Jima, February 20, 1945. Private Jacklyn Lucas is 17 years old, crouched in a trench with four other Marines. A Japanese grenade lands between them. Jack doesn't hesitate—he throws himself on it. Then he sees the second grenade rolling toward his friends. He reaches out, grabs it, pulls it under his body. Both grenades explode. What happens next is medically impossible.

Jack was 14 when he forged documents to join the Marines. At 16, he stowed away on a troop ship to reach Iwo Jima. At 17, he became the youngest Marine to receive the Medal of Honor in World War II—and one of only eight to survive the action that earned it.

Two grenades. 256 pieces of shrapnel. Zero chance of survival. But Jack lived 63 more years with 125 metal fragments still in his body.
