KT88 SE UL Tube Power Amp: Testing and Final Thoughts

This is going to be a short video series on building a "Kegger inspired" KT88/6EJ7 Single Ended, Ultralinear amp using a Hammond power transformer and some Edcor 5K 25W output transformers. You could call this a spin-off of the popular ‪@Blueglow‬ version of this amp, which used a different driver stage.

This amp does have a bit more THD than I expected, like I said in the video, that could be tamed with a lower value feedback resistor, say a 220K. But then the amp sounded a little flat to my ears. I believe some of this is from using these larger size Edcor output transformers, but then they bring better low frequency response to the party!

This is going to be more about the design and thoughts on the layout decisions, plus showing how to wire everything and less of a step by step showing me building it. I hope you enjoy this and helps you to understand why i do things the way I do. I'm constantly learning and am revisiting this amp to apply things I have learned since I build that same amp years ago.
