Tally Hall: What We Were Never Meant To Know

In 2011, Tally Hall treated their fans to their second album, “Good And Evil.” A more serious departure from the eccentric tones of Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum six years earlier, this was the marionette quintet’s first attempt at a concept album. Leading off this 14 track followup is a little diddy called “Never Meant To Know.”
Besides just generally being a good song, this opener caught my attention as of late. Even after having listened to it dozens of times over in the last, eh, three, four years, only recently did I really think about what it was really trying to say. As a song, as the beginning of the album, as a piece of music in the context of the world around it. What are the things we are never meant to know?
