The CNIA powwow is a longstanding community event. It is student-run with support from UMN Morris staff. The powwow is only one way we celebrate and honor the Native and indigenous communities and cultures.

This year the Circle of Nations Indigenous Association has chosen the theme ‘Recognizing and Reclaiming the Land’. In relation to the Morris campus, the Morris Industrial School attempted to strip indigenous children of their culture. In honor of addressing a difficult past Minnesota Morris students today celebrate their culture in a variety of ways, with the powwow being the biggest showing of that.
