Summertime (1955) and the romance of 1950s Venice

We're off to Venice, Italy. It's "Summertime" (1955), starring Katherine Hepburn and Rossano Brazzi and directed by David Lean. This beautiful film tells the story of Jane Hudson, who dreamed of Venice and adventure and romance her entire life.

Summertime's Venice film locations take us a place where all Jane's dreams can come true. And the movie, filmed so beautifully in vivid technicolor by David Lean, makes us believe that they will.

Lean gives us a portrait of mid-century Venice with all its canals, bridges and piazzas on display. It's a timeless visual portrayal of a timeless and beautiful city.
