Dr. Ray Guarendi was raised Catholic, but there was a lot he never learned, or if he did learn it, it didn't sink in. For a number of years, he followed Jesus as an Evangelical Christian, but his engineering background led him to apply practical logic to questions like the doctrine of "sola Scriptura" and "once saved, always saved." The more he pressed those issues, the more they fell apart; and he realized that he needed to come back home the the Catholic Church.
