I did a fancy drive from Tibet to Nepal, drove from 5200m Mt.Everest Base Camp to 2000m Napal border

Continuing from my previous journey, I drove from Mount Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5200 meters to the breathtaking canyon at the foot of the Himalayas with an elevation of only 2000 meters at the Gyirong Port, the border between China and Nepal. In just one day, I descended 3200 meters in altitude, passing by the expansive, blue Lake Peiku, crossing the 5230-meter Kongtang La Pass, and traversing the dry river valley at the foot of the Himalayas, finally arriving at the forested Gyirong Valley. This was truly a magical journey, where, in one day, I witnessed the world's highest snow-capped mountains, colorful canyons, lush forests, cascading waterfalls, and bottomless gorges with rivers rushing below.

The ground was adorned with breathtaking canyon scenery, while the sky showcased the Himalayas floating above the clouds. The snow-capped peaks and forests at the China-Nepal border emerged simultaneously in Gyirong Valley, creating an otherworldly feel. Historically, princesses from Nepal and high monks who traveled from India to Tibet have entered Tibet through Gyirong Port, beginning their long and tough journeys west to Lhasa.

Every year, thousands of tourists and countless goods travel from Tibet to Nepal through Gyirong Port, making it the busiest travel and trade hub between the Tibetan Plateau and Nepal. If you plan to travel from Nepal to Tibet, we recommend taking a jeep from Kathmandu via land, which takes about a day to reach Gyirong Port. From there, you can gradually ascend in elevation through the beautiful Gyirong Valley at the foot of the Himalayas, visiting the stunning Lake Peiku and Mount Everest Base Camp, and then continuing west to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. Of course, you can also choose to start your journey from Lhasa, traveling 600 kilometers alongside the Himalayas, crossing the mountains to reach Gyirong Valley, and then exiting to Nepal from Gyirong Port.
