Описание к видео Deck Staining: Part 2 | Revenge Of The Sap | Ryan Olsen

Here is a link to my video, How To Stain Your Deck:    • How To Stain Your Deck | Ryan Olsen

If you watch the linked video, you will see how to stain your deck. My deck was beautiful after I stained it a couple of years ago, but I did mention that there were some "pitch pockets" that could continue to bleed sap. Well...they kept bleeding. I was bummed when the sap started bleeding through again, and the deck has been out of commission until we could have the time to do something about it (and most importantly, a plan for how to proceed).

Fast forward to today, where I stained the floor of the deck (after cleaning the deck two days ago), and now show you our plan for how to use our deck. The sap will keep coming out; that is just the way it is. No matter what you read or whatever someone tells you, that sap will keep coming out until those pockets are dry (which could take many years). The only options you really have are to: remove the boards and replace them with different boards, or cover the boards somehow. We chose to find a material to cover the boards with.

I first found composite boards that are attached with screws and hidden fasteners that run perpendicular to the existing deck boards. There were mixed reviews about the product, and the installation was very challenging for some; plus the price of the product was high. My wife and I were walking in Menards when we saw the product on the shelf that would work! Here is a link to the rubber tiles we bought: https://www.menards.com/main/building...

The rubber tiles are less expensive, seem durable, are easy to install, and are easy to remove. I really think this will be a good option for us. I will be able to remove the tiles from time to time, and see what is going on under there. This will also allow me to stain the deck again as needed. We are looking forward to being able to use our deck again in (hopefully) the near future. I plan to post an update when we get the rubber tiles down.
