1959 FORD THUNDERBIRD J CODE SPECIAL

Possibly the rarest 59’ Thunderbird ‘J’ Code Hardtop in existence.
This car was special ordered in September, 1958, and delivered to the Spokane, Washington Ford dealership on December 1, 1958. The car lived 61 years of its life in Spokane, which is a dry desert mountainous climate. This car was special ordered in Bluff - Hickory Tan, without two-tone interior.
In 1959, 90% of the Ford Thunderbirds were produced with two-tone interiors, as that was extremely popular at the time. Total number of ‘J’ Code hardtops produced at the MEL - Wixom, Michigan plant was 3154.
Of the 315 or so ‘J’ Code hardtops produced with one tone interiors, 60% or so were built without Air Conditioning. Of the 189 or so ‘J’ Code single tone interiors produced without Air Conditioning, there were 18 colors offered for the 59’ Thunderbird in single tone. Some colors were more popular than others, black, white, red etc., of which approximately only 10, -59’ Thunderbirds were made with this combination of ‘J’ Code, Hickory tan exterior, Hickory Tan interior, and without Air Conditioning. I believe this to be possibly the only one left of the ten or so built in this combination.
The car is a survivor with 66,000 original miles on the clock and spent most part of 45 years in the garages of the first two owners. The plates on the car are the 2nd edition, as back in those days, you received new plates in the mail every 4 years. The last time the car was registered was in 1972. Uploaded on 5/16/2021
