Sennheiser HD 620S closed-back headphones review | Crutchfield

Описание к видео Sennheiser HD 620S closed-back headphones review | Crutchfield

Sennheiser's HD600 series of headphones has been a customer favorite for years, but it's never had a closed-back headphone until now, with the HD 620S. Was Sennheiser successful in getting a closed-back to sound as airy and precise as the rest of the line? Our Headphone Guy dives in and tells you what he thinks in this review.

Sennheiser uses a 42mm driver in the HD 620S, and it's angled inside the cup to control how your music hits your ears. The result is a soundstage that lets you pinpoint musicians in space, with vocals in the center, and with a wider presentation than most closed-back headphones. And as you'd expect from the HD600 line, the musical details you can hear are glorious.

The HD620S not only offer a different stereo presentation than its '600 series brethren, but it offers a different tuning, too. The tune emphasizes bass and treble somewhat, with a laid-back midrange. It's definitely different from the vocal-forward tuning you get in other headphones in the line.

They're comfortable, too, though a bit heavier than others in the series. Sennheiser knows how to make headphones comfortable, and the HD 620S are the kind you can wear for long sessions without worry. Their design is more like the HS 560S, though with some added weight and synthetic leather ear cups vs the velour you see in the other HD600 series headphones.

But do they live up to their name, and how does this closed-back set fit with the venerable HD 600, the HD 650, HD 660 and the rest? Our Headphone Guy lets you know what he thinks in the video. He also talks with one of the engineers behind the development of the HD 620S to gain further insight.
