In this video, I demonstrate one of Tailscale’s lesser known, but most powerful features: App Connectors. Think of it as split DNS for specific websites on your Tailnet, allowing you to route traffic for particular domains through designated endpoints. Or if you’d prefer, you can think of it as an exit node for a specific website only.

I walk you through setting up an App Connector that routes all traffic to ipchicken.com through a DigitalOcean droplet in London - making websites see my traffic as coming from the UK rather than my actual location in the US.

Accessing services that only permit specific IP addresses through allowlists

Routing traffic to internal applications with dynamic IP addresses
