Honda CBR650R 2020 Akrapovic Exhaust Upgrade Installation (It’s Loud)

Описание к видео Honda CBR650R 2020 Akrapovic Exhaust Upgrade Installation (It’s Loud)

In this video, I show a complete breakdown and step by step guide for the removal of the OEM exhaust and fitment of the new Akrapovic full system. This includes removing the fairing, the tools I used and some tips along the way.
The process of removing the fairing and exhaust mounting, will be the same for all Akrapovic model’s, so can apply even if you don’t have my model.

The system I bought and cover in the video, is the Akrapovic S-H6R14-HEGEHT and is made of titanium. This of course reduces the overall weight of the bike and the performance is also increased.

The below link is for the exhaust I have purchased and fitted from Akrapovic:

Tools used in the video for install are:

17mm spanner (for CO2 / Lambda sensor)
Small Screwdriver (Philips)
12mm Socket (header bolts and back box bracket)
Ratchet (I used a 1/4” drive)
5mm Hex / Allen head
3mm Alex / Allen head
Universal Joint
10mm Socket (radiator mounting bolts)
Spring puller
1/4” drive Torque wrench (torque settings further below)
Torch

The spring puller does not come with the exhaust kit, but I would highly recommend one. With any of the Akrapovic exhaust systems, they will be spring mounted, so this tool is essential.
The link for the spring puller is below, but all good hardware shops will sell them or just order it online like I did.

The torquing of the bolts is very important. Being an engineer, I understand the philosophy behind torquing, but not everybody takes it as serious. Over tightening the bolts can be really damaging and increase the risk of shearing a header stud (that would be a disaster).
Do not over-tighten the bolts, when fitting the exhaust. Allow the torque wrench to tighten them to the required setting. The instructions briefly touches on the torque settings, but a quick search online will also support this information.

CO2 / Lambda sensor = 32Nm (25 ft/lb)
Back box bracket = 22Nm (16 ft/lb)
Back box mounting bolts (12mm) = 22Nm (16 ft/lb)
Header bolts (12mm) = 22Nm (16 ft/lb)
