Durian is the most banned fruit in the WORLD! Why? Is it because it's known as the world's smelliest fruit? Durian is actually one of the most nutritious fruits and has many health benefits. It is native to Indonesia. You eat the fruit of this tree, which grows to be 15 - 30 cm and is covered with a thick spikey shell. Inside the covering, the yellow or white colored flesh surrounds big seeds. The fleshy fruit is what we try in today’s episode. Join us at the famous Ucok Durian shop and restaurant. There are different ways you can buy this fruit: the whole fruit, de-seeded, or in ice cream, dessert drinks (cendol), pancakes, and more. Today, we decided to try just the fruit. We try two different types, one that is sweet and one that is “savory.” It is hard to describe the flavors of durian, but we will try out best.

If this fruit is so healthy and millions of people eat it, then why is it banned from taxis, buses, and hotel rooms all over southeast Asia? It has a very strong pungent smell, that lingers and is difficult to get rid of. It smells kind of like rotten garbage or vomit.
