Genesis Magma Racing’s GMR-001 Hypercar entered a new phase of development as it prepares for its 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship debut during a three-day test at Circuit Magny-Cours in France. The running was planned as the team’s first dedicated wet-weather programme, with preparations to artificially wet the track. Instead, natural rain dominated the test, delivering a wide range of conditions and allowing the team to study the car’s behaviour on fully wet, damp, and drying surfaces.

Following earlier tests focused on system calibration and component reliability, the Magny-Cours test marked the first opportunity to shift attention toward performance. The goal was to build a deeper understanding of balance, traction, and drivability, and to expand the setup toolbox needed to adapt the car to changing conditions.

In Episode 10 of Trajectory, we take you exclusively behind the scenes as Genesis Magma Racing FIA World Endurance Championship drivers Pipo Derani, Andre Lotterer, Mathys Jaubert, and Dani Juncadella push the limits in the GMR-001. Variable weather conditions allowed the team to focus extensively on mechanical setup, traction control behaviour, gearshift strategies, and tyre warm-up procedures at cooler temperatures.

The test also provided the first experience of running near-2026 specification wet tyres with the GMR-001, offering valuable insight into tyre behaviour and heat generation in low-grip conditions. With only a limited number of test days remaining before the homologation process begins, the focus now turns to combining reliability work with performance development, while also rehearsing race weekend procedures ahead of the team’s FIA WEC debut.
