Transit Mid Roof Camper VanTour 130WB

This was built for a client as a weekend travel rig for personal use, as well as a mobile workspace for his film company:

The majority of this interior was built using oak plywood, for a clean, natural feel throughout. The walls and ceiling are insulated with Havelock wool insulation, and the floor is two layers of polystyrene insulation board. The wall panels and interior door panels are matching 1/8” oak.

The cabinets are all made of oak, with hardwood red oak trim. The flooring is waterproof vinyl flooring, and the raised floor in the rear section of the van has rubber coin mat to keep things waterproof and tidy.

This build seats 4 and sleeps two. The rear double seat is removable (and you’re also able to flip the seats backwards as well). The seats utilized the Transit OEM quick release latch system for ease of use. The bed will fit a full sized mattress, and the client planned to use an inflatable camp mattress to minimize cushions floating around the van. (There are a few more comparable options on the market these days including Hest)

There is large storage underneath the bed area that houses a matching oak tabletop for a Lagun table leg (not shown in this video). The Lagun mount is attached to the face of the bench to create a workspace on the raised platform. The rest of the underside of the bench is large open storage. The front section also has two 10” deep “built in style” open cabinets for miscellaneous gear. The bench top has two hinged sections that flip down onto a hardwood oak ledge to create the sleeping platform. The raised section in the rear of the van has a drawer that opens forward with a marine slam latch, as well as a large drawer that pull out of the rear door section of the van that uses heavy-duty locking drawer slides for heavy gear. There is additional small storage in the rear cabinet on the drivers side with some shelving.

The countertop has a deep storage box inside, as well as storage for the secondary battery system, inverter, and other electrical components (with vent holes built into the cabinet door). The system has one 100ah battery, wired to the starting battery via a Sterling Power B2B charger. A 2000watt Aims Pure Sine Inverter is connected to the system, and brings power to two GFCI outlets (one at the rear of the van, and one behind the drivers seat) with a remote switch.

The deep sink uses a simple cold water faucet and a Whale Gusher foot pump for hands free use as well as slower water consumption. Two Scepter 5 gallon military grade jugs are house below to hold fresh water and grey water respectively. Quick disconnects make filling fast and convenient.

The upper cabinet run the length of the van, and also house the switches for the interior lights. The interior lights are in three zones: under cabinet, front, and rear. There are also two LED lights that illuminate out of the rear doors that are controlled by a switch panel in the rear door as well.

There are two Arctic Tern windows in the van. One in the sliding door, and one on the drivers side near the bed. A MaxxAir Vent fan adds to the ventilation system.
