The All The Stations team gave all of their fans a task for this weekend - to travel by train to a station they've never been to before and check out some of the sights in the surrounding area.

So I decided to go to Southend, as it's just a 40 minute train ride from Barking (my sponsored station for the project). It was a lovely afternoon, mostly spent on the world's longest pleasure pier - riding the train to the far end, and then walking all the way back.
