🍄 This is the story of my 5-week morel mushroom hunt as a first-time morel forager, looking for one of the most elusive and sought-after spring fungi.

We'll cover what a morel hunt looks like on the ground, the common morel look-alikes (I found a few of those!), and how to tell the difference between a true morel and a false morel. I also share a couple of easy morel recipes for both true and false morel mushrooms and some common precautions regarding the way they should be cooked for safe eating.

Tips in the video for finding true morels. Look out for:
mix of trees: ash, poplar, hornbeam, cherry
blooming plants: violets, squill, anemones, cowslip, lungwort
blooming trees & shrubs: cherry plums, blackthorn
co-emergent mushrooms: scarlet elf cups, verpas
shaded areas, damp soil, rainfall
soil temp. ~10°C (50°F) at a depth of 10 cm (~4 in)
fungus gnats
