In this PLC tutorial using TIA Portal, we’ll program a simple yet practical logic: a Motor Run Indicator with a timer delay, counter, and reset function. When a push button is pressed, the motor starts after a 3-second delay. Each time the motor runs, a counter increments. Once the motor completes 5 cycles, an indicator light turns ON and stays ON, signaling that the limit has been reached.

We’ll also add a reset button to clear the counter and turn the indicator OFF, bringing the system back to its initial state. This example is ideal for beginners looking to understand how to use TON timers, CTU counters, and build basic logic in Siemens TIA Portal with ladder diagrams.
