Abstarct - This Arduino-based project features an RFID-enabled EV Charging Station that automates vehicle charging through a secure, prepaid balance system. The system utilizes an MFRC522 RFID reader for user authentication, an I2C or parallel LCD for real-time status updates, and a keypad for selecting charging durations. When a user swipes a registered card, the system verifies the account balance; if sufficient (minimum Rs. 400), it prompts the user to select a charging time of 1, 2, or 4 hours. Upon selection, the system deducts the appropriate cost based on a defined hourly rate, activates an EV status LED to simulate power delivery, and runs a countdown timer. Integrated safety features include a 5-second selection timeout to prevent system idling and a buzzer for audible feedback on successful swipes or errors. Administrators can also recharge card balances via Serial Monitor commands, making it a scalable prototype for smart city infrastructure. The logic is designed for efficiency, ensuring that the charging process is non-blocking and provides clear visual and audio cues from start to finish.
