What is EECP?
Enhanced external counter pulsation (EECP) is a safe, non surgical,non invasive, and clinically effective outpatient physical therapy for many patients with refractory angina. EECP reduces endothelial dysfunction, myocardial oxygen demand and improves peripheral arterial function

Indications of EECP
A growing number of patients with Coronary Artery Disease suffer from angina, despite the optimal medical management (ie, β-blockers, calcium channel blockers, and long-acting nitrates) and Interventional procedures like PTCA( angioplasty ) with stent or CABG( Bypass surgery).

Enhanced External Counter Pulsation (EECP) therapy has a great potential as a non-invasive alternative and safe therapy for bypass surgery which is traditionally treated to treat angina and restore the blood flow.

EECP therapy is an effective non-invasive method to treat diabetic and non–diabetic Coronary Heart Disease patients. It improves both physical (physical functional capacity, angina, dyspnea) and clinical profile (lipid profile, lower the blood glucose level) in diabetic CHD patients. EECP may also improve clinical symptoms of CHD patients and lower the blood glucose level in diabetic CHD patients this may directly improve overall Quality of Life of CHD patients with DM.

What is the time duration of EECP
EECP is given for eligible patients after necessary investigations- as in 35 sessions. Treatment is given 1 hour a day , five days a week, for 7 weeks.
