Is egg white the best or the yolk? Been getting this question quite often, so I thought I could break the science behind it in the shortest way possible.

Eating the egg as a whole is good. Most of you avoid the yolk and eat only the white part. It does not do any good.

If you are an athlete, or if your body requires more protein, then eating more egg white can be beneficial. If you take the composition of both the yolk and the white, comparatively white has more protein than the yolk. Go for egg whites only if it is a necessity. Full nutrition is utilized only if you eat eggs as a whole.

The yolk has more nutrition than the white. It has fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E & K. It helps your brain and nervous system function better

It makes your bones stronger. Phospholipids, Immuno globules, good cholesterol are all present in the egg yolk.

Don't be misguided that eating more egg yolk will increase cholesterol. Our body has a defensive mechanism to neutralize and react. 75% of the cholesterol is body made and only 25% goes from the food we intake.

Many other important elements like calcium, Vitamin B12, and trace elements are found in the egg yolk. Egg white also has some vitamins but the majority of them are in the yolk.

To make it simple, eating eggs as a whole is the best.

How many eggs can we eat in a day? Yet another question that is repeatedly asked.
Up to 4 eggs per day will do good. If you are below 15 years of age, 2 to 3 eggs per day are good.

if you are above 50 and have heart problems, please consult your physician before adding eggs to your diet.

For people above 45, I suggest you eat a more plant-based, vegetarian diet as you grow older. No matter the age, being a vegetarian is always a good thing. Especially as you grow older, it will be easier for your body to digest vegetarian food.

Eating egg yolk can help you provide nutrition especially if you are recovering from a disease, fever, injury, or cancer.
Additionally, eggs help your skin, hair, bones, brain, and nervous system to function properly.

There is nothing wrong with eating the yolk. Don't be confused about cholesterol and egg yolks. Keep it under the limits. A maximum of 4 eggs per day is safe for an individual. Or you can have 2 to 3 eggs every day. It depends on how much you can eat. It's up to you.
