Yamaha DT-1 был действительно абсолютно новым типом внедорожного мотоцикла.Такой техники ни кто из производителей ранее не выпускал!И Ямаховцы,как говорится попали
в точку ,взорвав Американский рынок этой моделью!Новый «эндуро» был значительно дешевле европейских именно внедорожных мотоциклов,имел очень привлекательный
внешний вид ,был надежным, но требовал небольших доработок, чтобы быть полностью готовым к гонкам. В марте 1968 года 8000 мотоциклов уже появились у дилера и в миг
были распроданы. Модель имела большой успех и уже совсем скоро Yamaha продавала по 50000 моделей DT-1 в год!

The DT series of motorcycles was created by Yamaha in the late 1960s, when the motorcycle market in the United States was on the decline.His research conducted
by Yamaha showed that, despite low motorcycle sales, the off-road bike market is largely untapped. At that time, only a few
specialized European manufacturers, such as Bultaco and Husqvarna, produced motorcycles specifically for off-road, which were quite expensive.
Therefore, having no alternative, many off-road enthusiasts purchased road motorcycles and modified them for off-road use, usually raised the muffler and steering wheel,
and installed steel plate protection under the engine.Such modifications were widely known as scramblers - dual-purpose motorcycles,
a huge boom was beginning in the United States.And this was first noticed in Yamaha!And in the shortest possible time, they created a factory dual-purpose model specifically for America, the DT-1, which went on
sale in 1968.
The Yamaha DT-1 was really a completely new type of off-road motorcycle.None of the manufacturers have ever produced such equipment before!And the Yamakhovites, as they say, hit
the nail on the head by blowing up the American market with this model!The new "enduro" was significantly cheaper than European off-road motorcycles, had a very attractive
appearance, was reliable, but required small improvements to be fully ready for racing. In March 1968 , 8000 motorcycles had already appeared at the dealer and in a moment
were sold out. The model was a great success and very soon Yamaha was selling 50,000 DT-1 models a year!
The motorcycle was equipped with a 2-stroke 1-cylinder engine, the volume of which was 246 cc. The 28-mm Mikuni carburetor was responsible for the power supply.
The power plant produced 22 hp at 5500 rpm and 24 nm of torque at 5 thousand. The transmission was represented by a 5-speed gearbox and chain drive.
The suspension consisted of a front telescopic fork, and a pendulum with two shock absorbers was installed at the back!The drum mechanisms on both were responsible for braking
wheels that were shod in tires with a developed tread!The curb weight of the motorcycle was 123 kg.
