The Italian motorcycle manufacturer continued its performance recipe of lightweight and more power, and designed a machine that creates over 200 horsepower and has a claimed dry weight of just 341.7 lbs. With 90-percent fuel and all liquids, the Superleggera weighs in at 390.2 lbs.

Yes, you read that correctly – 341.7 lbs. With these types of numbers, the 2014 Ducati 1199 Superleggera has the highest power-to-weight ratio of any production motorcycle.

Ducati conquered this insane power-to-weight ratio by utilizing the innovations displayed in “Project 1201,” such as creating a motorcycle through the use of lightweight materials such as carbon fiber, magnesium and titanium.

This 1199 SUPERLEGGERA is # 220/500, and it has only been ridden at the track, which is most appropriate for a motorcycle with this level of ferocity and sheer performance. It is not a garage queen as many of these rare bikes sadly often become, instead it has been ridden and should continue to be, in earnest…

There are some minor cosmetic imperfections, including pitting on the leading edges as should be expected from track use. The paint still shines, however after time in the sun there is some degree of fading that can be observed.

This is a highly unique work of engineering and it is not a motorcycle for the faint of heart or light in wallet. Having said that, the satisfaction of mastering this beast are invaluable! Are you worthy?
