Straight after an incredible trip to Ambulawawa and on the way back through Kandy, we stopped at a Spice Garden.

With over 200 acres of farmland to grow spices, it supposedly has some of the highest quality spices that you can find in Kandy. I was greeted by a herbalist that works alongside doctors at Kandy hospital. He was there twice a week alongside his students to teach - as well as take members of the public such as myself around the spice garden.

He showed me many of the plants that are used in traditional Sri Lankan medicine from Vanilla, nutmeg, sandalwood & curry leaves.

A nice surprise was a massage, administered by one of the students!

There is a shop at the end of the tour where you can purchase spices or oils, as well as an opportunity to donate to the program given that the tour was free.

It only took an hour or so and is definitely something that I would recommend if you are in Kandy.
