Publishers Panel - BCLT Summer School 2023

This Publishers' Panel took place as part of the 2023 BCLT Summer School Programme on Thursday 27 July, 2023.

Speakers are Sawad Hussain (Chair), Daniel Bird (Granta), Archna Sharma (Neem Tree Press) and Kristen Vida Alfaro (Tilted Axis).

Editors are sometimes seen as a world away, almost unknowable - unless you know someone who knows someone. How can one establish a relationship of trust with them? Where do editors find their books? Which best practices of translators do they appreciate? Where do they draw the line, for example, when it comes to departing from the source language? This panel delves into the nitty gritty of editing translations and the professional lives of editors, with the aim of establishing common ground to foster deeper and more fruitful collaboration.
