History of Gurudwara Singh Shaheedan, Sohana :::

On 18th November, 1755 Baba Hanuman Singh Ji was born at Narangpur Wala. Sardar Garga Singh Bath and Mata Harnam Kaur were his parents.

After the death Maharaja Ranjit Singh the traitorous administrators, General Lal Singh and Gulab Singh Dogra moved to take power from the Khalsa. Maharani Jind Kaur sent a letter to Baba Ji through General Sham Singh Attariwala to Akal Takht Sahib, Amritsar calling for help against the British.

Baba Ji instantly responded and in December 1845 he sent the fighters to the Battle of Mudki. Around 10,000 Anglo soldiers were killed in a brutal war. The enemy ran way and Sikhs won the fight but a spy, Karam Singh also known by the name Karma Ali, betrayed the Sikhs and the British used cannons.

The Nihangs were lacking in such support. The enemy attacked with powerful gun fire and as a result around 15,000 Sikh soldiers were martyred. All the dead bodies were cremated at Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib.

Baba Ji along with 500 Singhs who were fighting headed for Gharam and was badly injured with gun fire. They reached Sohana passing through Rajpura and ultimately, Baba Ji embraced martyrdom.

Gurdwara Singh Shaheedan Sohana was built under the direction and supervision of Baba Harbans Singh Ji Karseva Bangla Sahib Delhi. The Gurudwara Sahib Shaheedan has been constructed at the cremation place in remembrance of Baba Ji
