This is a poem about the Red Turban Rebellion. The Red Turban Rebellion was the rebellion against the totalitarian regime of the Mongol Yuan Dynasty from 1351 to 1368. The rebellion was led by Zhu Yuanzhang, later the Hongwu Emperor.

The Red Turban Song is today used as a Han nationalist song, and the lyrics are used in the Huanghan Song (皇汉歌).
