The Grand Theft Auto National Football League (GTANFL) is a professional American football league that consists of 24 teams, divided equally between the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). The NFL is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada and the highest professional level of American football in the world. Each GTANFL season begins annually with a four-week preseason in August, followed by the 17-week regular season, which runs from early September to early January, with each team playing 16 games and having one bye week. Following the conclusion of the regular season, six teams from each conference, including four division winners and two wild card teams, advance to the playoffs, a single-elimination tournament, which culminates in the Super Bowl, played in early February between the winners of the AFC and NFC championship games.

The Los Santos Panic is a professional basketball team in Los Santos featured in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. The team's home court is the Maze Bank Arena in La Puerta. The club has won titles in 1949, 1950, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1972, 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009 and 2010. The team is directly based on the NBA team Los Angeles Lakers, due to the purple and gold coloring and the fact that the Panic have won 16 championships as well as in identical years to the Lakers. The name may also be a reference to the many infamous and panic-triggering riots that occurred whenever the Lakers have won consecutive NBA championships, most recently in 2010.

The Liberty Penetrators is a professional men's basketball team based in Liberty City in Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online. Pedestrians and Street Punks gang members can be seen wearing Liberty Penetrators clothing such as shirts, hoodies and caps. Jimmy De Santa can often be seen wearing a Liberty Penetrators shirt in GTA V. The Penetrators share the same colors as their real-life counterparts, the New York Knicks.
