Edinburgh has a new political party fielding five candidates in Edinburgh's five constituencies in the 4th July 2024 General Election.

We have mobilised at an incredible speed and achieved in four weeks what would have otherwise taken four months. We were not able to register with the Electoral Commission in time so EDINBURGH PEOPLE will not be on the ballot paper. Only the names of your five EDINBURGH PEOPLE candidates will be on the ballot paper so remember our names (see below).

We are all members of EDINBURGH PEOPLE and we have been elected to stand by the party's membership and we are bound by the party's constitution.

Our party slogan is:

Do NOT elect Career Politicians AGAIN! Elect People!

The purpose of EDINBURGH PEOPLE is to represent Edinburgh People first and foremost. The single issue is summarised simply in just the two words: Edinburgh People.

We stand in such a way as to:
o give a voice to the people of Edinburgh.
o make sure that voice is listened to.
o make sure that it is acted upon; and
o make sure the improvements it demands are secured.

The strategy of EDINBURGH PEOPLE is to achieve our objectives ourselves, without relying on career politicians who are notoriously compromised and unable to publicly debate against their respective party whips.

EDINBURGH PEOPLE is a grassroots member-led democratic political party with voluntary membership fees. We operate a ‘one person one vote’ system whereby members both propose policy and vote on policy. Members also vote to select their candidates and, in due course, will vote to reselect their sitting Councillors, MPs and MSPs.
