As you know FASTag has been made compulsory for four wheelers and above at toll gates. Without FASTag double the amount will be charged. It is heard that the Government has amended the Motor Vehicle Rules in regard to this. FASTag is an electronic toll collection system in India, operated by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). It employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly from the prepaid or savings account linked to it.

Let us see where to fix the FASTAG. It is affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle from inside below any sunscreen. To affix the FASTag we need to clean the inside of the windscreen. After removing the cover we need to affix the portion having gum on the windscreen, on the center below any sunscreen, so that it is clearly visible.

This enables to drive through toll plazas without stopping for transactions. The tag can be purchased from official Tag issuers or participating Banks and we can recharge/topup with ease.

I opted for one from ICICI bank and was provided with a user id and FASTag account number. I linked it to my Savings Account so that I can recharge my FASTag easily via mobile app or internet banking. Make sure to keep sufficient balance, which can be known through different ways.
