Waterproofing an Axial SCX10: Bearings, Receiver, ESC, Servo

Описание к видео Waterproofing an Axial SCX10: Bearings, Receiver, ESC, Servo

There's lots of opinions out there when it comes to waterproofing an RC! Here’s how I waterproofed my Axial SCX10:
For the bearings, I popped off the seals (rubber), filled them with marine grease, and replaced the seals (cleaning excess grease to avoid) attracting dirt. I do the same with the axles, but I’m careful to leave the area around the drive gears free.
For the receiver, since Axial doesn’t provide rubber or silicone gaskets for the radio box like they do with the Wraith and Yeti XL kits that I have, I wrapped the wires with few strips of servo tape to create a seal and painted the edge of the radio box Plasti-Dip to create a rubber gasket and a waterproof seal when the radio box is closed. I also explain how the receiver itself can be waterproofed with Plasti Dip or a balloon.
For the electronic Speed controller (ESC), I've used a waterproof Castle Sidewinder in the past, but now I’m running a Mamba Max Pro so I can have the option to use a brushless set up later. I removed the case of the MMP and coated the circuit board with Plasti Dip. I painted the Plasti Dip rather than dipping it into the can to avoid covering the heatsink. I’ve heard that conformal coating is better for the electronic circuits, so consider that method as well if you need to waterproof your ESC - I used PLasti Dip because it’s what I had on hand.
To waterproof my servo, I removed the top of the case and filled the area around the spline with marine grease which created a seal when the case was replaced. I also used a runner O-ring between the servo horn and the spline for an additional layer of protection, and painted all seals and screws with Plasti Dip to complete the waterproofing.
I made this waterproofing video with rock crawlers in mind, but many of the same methods will work for just about RC out there, including Traxxis, HPI, Losi, Team Associated, Duratrax, Vaterra, RC4WD etc.
