Calico Candy Mine Ride Copyright-Free Opening Day Daytime On-Ride POV, Knott's Berry Farm (9/9/2023)

SPOILER ALERT: One of the two Halloween Overlays for Halloween in General and Spooky Farm alike despite still not having an ability yet for Scary Farm experiencing. One of them that first open is the Calico Candy Mine Ride, an overlay about a Mineshaft into a fictional approach with all sorts of sweet stuff in there like all sorts of candies (Jawbreaker, Chocolate, Taffy, Cotton Candy, Strawberry, Soda, Ice Cream, Lolipops, etc.) that debuts in 2021 just pure music even though I didn't experience this version, with a storyline including a children trio and Pink Fairy added in 2022 for an extra layer of plot scenes along side with new props. As I end up going on approximately the First day of operation, everything in the ride is functional except two things: The Pails of Candy Jack-O-Lantern lights turned off temporarily, The cavern scene that has lights on in the middle of the segment with Children tent and Pink Fairy Projections so none of these work and it dims when entering and exiting it. Not really off to the good start from couple weeks prior to the Halloween season of Knott's Spooky and Scary Farms alike, but still is a sweet and good overlay although I only get to do one version. As for editing since I captured the attraction both Day and Night entirely during regular park hours, I can sort things out like Rare Night Exterior, Daytime sign passthrough, Extended look of the queue with lighting illusion, night station, probably the daytime views of the Banners from the first year that returns, operations at night, and most importantly sorting out the three Ride-throughs into the best parts especially using the 2022 POV as well on what the functional effects could've looked like unless if I capture when they work this year in a separate visit. Until then, enjoy these POV clips until I figure out to texturize these or yet time the boarding procedure to time how fast or slow each mine train can fill in with setting a Record from the regular Mine Ride POV of mine in 2023, but I'll choose just one of them when making this.

Every Fall, the Calico Mines undergo a fantastical transformation into a Candy Wonderland! Explore the caves and caverns for candy confections, and keep an eye out for the elusive Pink Fairy!


CALICO MINE RIDE
This beloved attraction carries riders aboard ore cars, on a realistic adventure through dimly lit tunnels of a working gold mine. The winding journey takes passengers to underground lakes, waterfalls, caverns filled with thousands of mysterious formations, chambers filled with steaming, bubbling pots, and geysers.

At several points in the trip, riders find themselves along the rim of a sixty-five foot deep and ninety-foot wide scene filled with dozens of animated miners trying to strike it rich.

Height Requirement: 46 inches or accompanied by a supervising companion





The Calico Mine Ride, Knott’s first major ride, opened in Ghost Town in November 1960 and was quickly recognized as one of the world’s most immersive “dark rides.” The beloved attraction, designed by industry pioneer Bud Hurlbut, carries riders aboard ore cars on a realistic adventure through dimly lit tunnels of a working gold mine. The winding journey takes passengers to underground lakes, waterfalls, caverns filled with thousands of mysterious formations, chambers filled with steaming, bubbling pots and geysers. At several points in the trip, riders find themselves along the rim of a sixty five foot deep and ninety foot wide scene filled with dozens of animated miners trying to strike it rich.



The attraction’s rustic wooden loading platform has been refreshed and now includes a “peek-in” similar to those found throughout Ghost Town, offering guests windows into the rich mining history of the 1850s on their way toward boarding the mine train car.




PRESERVING A CLASSIC

Knott’s Berry Farm’s Design Team, in partnership with Garner Holt Productions, Inc., has elevated Hurlbut’s 1960 design while preserving the original mining experience. Nearly fifty animatronic humans and dozens more animals populate the updated adventure, with more than 120 characters spread through classic and re-imagined scenes. New denizens of the mountain include an old miner just inside the first tunnel who will welcome guests into the Calico Mine and warn them of dangers that lie along the rails ahead. Despite the massive mining operation depicted inside the Calico Mine, since the attraction first opened, no character has ever actually found gold in the mountain. As part of the renovation, one lucky miner will be seen striking it rich with gold in-hand!
