TOP GUN was the most expensive advertisement for the US military ever, and TOP GUN: MAVERICK is trying to do the same thing. The Military-Entertainment Complex is the term for the well-documented relationship between the military and Hollywood. TOP GUN is the most famous example of this, but there are dozens or possibly hundreds more.
